An elegant, racy TBA, with caramel, citrus and green tea accents. It's buoyed by good acidity, but isn't that concentrated or thickly textured. Drink now through 2009. –BS

Producer
Tinhof
Weingut Erwin Tinhof is located in Trausdorf, Austria and is owned by Erwin Tinhof, a dynamic producer who studied viticulture and winemaking in Vienna, as well as at the University of Montpellier. He has also earned experienced working at Mas de Daumas Gassac, the "Lafite of the Languedoc". His vineyards are comprised of 14 hectares in the best locations around Eisenstadt and his vines are up to 55 years old. He believes in organic viticulture using natural farming techniques without herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilizers. As of 2012, the estate has been certified organic. Erwin produces a variety of different wines - five whites, eight reds, a rosé and a Beerenauslese but their most prized wine is their Trokenbeerenauslese, a beautifully poised, unctuous dessert wine that is produced with 60% Pinot Blanc and 40% Riesling and produced in a similar way to the majestic wines of Sauternes.
