Il Borgo 2013 75cl

This is one of two estates owned by Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari. The second is Tenuta di Nozzole. The 2013 Il Borgo opens to a rich, dark garnet appearance with austere fruit flavors. Following a few vigorous swirls of the glass, the wine opens up to soft cherry and blackberry aromas with mellow textural richness. Il Borgo represents a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Some 50,000 bottles are produced.

A rich red, with cherry and plum notes shaded by vanilla, chocolate and a hint of earth flavors. The tannins are on the dry side, but this would be fine with grilled steak or lamb. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2017 through 2023. 3,000 cases made.
