Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was showing far too much new oak on the nose that obstructed terroir expression. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, viscous in texture and lacking much in the way of precision or refinement. At the moment this seems far oakier than other 2013s from Olivier Leflaive. I wonder if it will pull through and soak up the wood? Only one way to find out ... Tasted May 2016
