The very well-balanced palate offers filigreed tannin and layers of sweet black cherry and cassis fruit that segue into a tensile, mineral-driven finish. Pure joy, pure class. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.92 Robert ParkerBlended of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and an expressive, alluringly spicy nose of cloves, cinnamon stick and fenugreek with a core of red and black currants, black cherries and wild blueberries plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied with very fine, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes long and satisfying.17 Rene GabrielMittleres Purpur-Granat. 17/20 2020 – 2035 Producer Château MargauxUnarguably, the most stunning property amongst the Médoc châteaux, its grand façade matched with its dramatic tree-lined drive speaks volumes of the Château Margaux’s already impressive reputation. Built in the early 19th century, the château still stands tall representing centuries of past vine growers. Greek born, André Mentzelopoulos bought the estate in 1949, and since the 1980s, his daughter, Corinne Mentzelopoulos has followed in his well-built traditions. By 1983, the charming, now late Paul Pontallier joined the team, becoming technical director at only 27-years-old. The traditional château, led by the young, but talented crew, has grown into one of Bodeaux’s best. The 262-hectare estate produces their signature Cabernet Sauvignon driven Grand Vin, Château Margaux. As well as a remarkable second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a pure Sauvignon Blanc, unique to Margaux, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux.
