Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with fresh, crunchy black fruits, framed by firm, grainy tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and lively. Nice! Producer Château BellegraveChâteau Bellegrave is a popular name for properties in the region as there is one in Pauillac, Fronsac, Lussac-Saint-Émilion, Saint-Émilion and this one in Pomerol. This frequently underrated Pomerol estate is owned by Jean-Marie Bouldy. Located in the southwest sector of Pomerol, by the railway line, it has a somewhat unusual soil - deep gravel with about 20% clay. This tends to give the wines depth of character with notable fruit and structure, which remain nicely balanced. The 8 hectares are grown organically (certified) and are planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
