Complex aromas of blueberry, rose petal, licorice, and currant. Full body, ultra fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Balanced and very refined. A wonderful purity and beauty. Give it three to four years to come together but already a beauty. A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 16% carmenere, 11% malbec, 8% merlot and 5% petit verdot.
Producer
Chadwick Eduardo
One of the biggest names in Chilean wine, Eduardo Chadwick teamed up with famed Californian vintner, Robert Mondavi to create Chile’s first icon wine - Seña. Releasing its first bottles in 1997, this 1995 vintage was the culmination of the duo’s commitment to produce the country’s greatest premium red wine. This trend-setting move made way for the future of Ultra-Premium Chilean wines. Situated amongst the rolling hills of Aconcagua, the 350-hectare property owns 42-hectares under vine, that enjoy both organic and biodynamic farming approaches. The blend differs from vintage to vintage, but is typically comprised of about half Cabernet Sauvignon, with a varying mixture of Carmernere, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties. The grapes are fermented in thermo-controlled stainless-steel tanks, then the wine is aged in French new-oak barrels for 22 months. Fondly received by critics and aficionados alike, Seña is undoubtedly Chile’s rising star.
