Rich yet firmly structured this is a very classic St.-Julien that's generous and polished with so much energy driving the long plush finish. Delicious now, but should hold for many years.

This has a perfumy espresso edge to its racy red currant, briar and blackberry bush notes. Long and refined through the finish, with a pronounced minerality that should soften in a decade. Tight, but a rather elegant expression of Cabernet overall. Best from 2016 through 2024. 15,000 cases made. — JM

Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmer am Rand. Schlankes, aber aromatisches Cassis-, Brombeerbouquet, feiner Zederntouch darin zeigend, eine schwarzkrischig-kompottige Süsse im Untergrund zeigend. Gut gebauter, recht enger Körper, fleischige Tannine die so vor allem im Extrakt zeigend, im Finale Lakritze und Vanillemark. Beeindruckender Wein der sogar noch zulegen kann. Und somit waäre das der erste Clos du Marquis der bei 18/20 landet. warten (2015 - 2028)

Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Clos du Marquis gives up notes of warm cassis, mocha, plum preserves and tobacco with a touch of Mediterranean herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is solidly structured with firm, chewy tannins backing up the muscular fruit core, culminating in a mineral-laced finish.
