The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season. The wine ages in large oak casks for two years. Some 12,688 bottles were made.93 Wine SpectatorThough ripe, sporting plum and cherry notes, this red is taut due to the lively acidity and dusty tannins. Hints of mint, iron and underbrush complete the profile. Shows fine balance and tension overall. Sangiovese. Best from 2021 through 2033.—B.S Producer Tenuta Sette PontiLocated in the heart of the Chianti region, Sette Ponti sits between Arezzo and Florence in the Arno River Valley. Sette Ponti is named after the seven bridges that connect the banks along the Arno River. Antonio Moretti, an ambitious entrepreneur helped to spark the somewhat renaissance movement of this Tuscan site. Moretti has managed to produce wonderful wines in a very short period of time. His family’s estate of 64-hectares, coordinated by Dr. Moretti Cuseri, makes three wines: Oreno – the more international of the three, Crognolo which expresses more of its sweet-fruited background of 90% Sangiovese, and an unwooded Sangiovese – Vigna di Pallino which is a cherryish based wine.
