The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry, plenty of tobacco-stained black fruit, pencil box and white pepper, fanning out with confidence on the finish that has just a little dryness. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting. Producer Château MargauxUnarguably, the most stunning property amongst the Médoc châteaux, its grand façade matched with its dramatic tree-lined drive speaks volumes of the Château Margaux’s already impressive reputation. Built in the early 19th century, the château still stands tall representing centuries of past vine growers. Greek born, André Mentzelopoulos bought the estate in 1949, and since the 1980s, his daughter, Corinne Mentzelopoulos has followed in his well-built traditions. By 1983, the charming, now late Paul Pontallier joined the team, becoming technical director at only 27-years-old. The traditional château, led by the young, but talented crew, has grown into one of Bodeaux’s best. The 262-hectare estate produces their signature Cabernet Sauvignon driven Grand Vin, Château Margaux. As well as a remarkable second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a pure Sauvignon Blanc, unique to Margaux, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux.
