Beautifully located along the Gironde estuary, the Victorian-styled Château Ducru-Beaucaillou sits high above the rest with a breathtaking view of the land and water below. Founded in the 13th century, this estate has seen only five families of successive owners. Today, the château is managed by the Jean Eugène Borie SA company, third generation Bruno-Eugène has acted as CEO since 2003. Due to its exceptional topographic origins, the large stones found across the 75-hectare vineyard provide a unique wine-growing terroir. Ducru-Beaucaillou produces quintessential Saint-Julien wines – fine, elegant, satisfying blends that linger on the palate. Classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé property, the grounds are planted to a mix of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot and equal portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. As a leading Super Second, the Grand Vin is an exemplary classically structured wine of the appellation, combining the grace and grandeur with its subtle cedar and dark fruit notes.
