90 Robert Parker
The top cuvee of the estate is the 2013 Limoux Domaine de Baron’Arques, and it’s outstanding in 2013. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively, with a layered textured, it offers terrific notes of cassis, damp earth, licorice and a touch of minerality on nose. Made from 53% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Malbec, it should keep nicely through 2022.<br/>Owned by the Rothschild family, Domaine de Baron’Arques is one of the leading estates in Limoux. They made a fabulous white based off Chardonnay and two reds: the entry level Limoux La Capitelle, and the top wine, the Domaine de Baron’Arques. Both cuvées appear to age gracefully, and the top cuvee can certainly keep for 15-20 years in a good vintage.
