Very supple and refined, with a crumpled velvet feel to the smoldering bay, tobacco and mulled spice hints surrounding the core of steeped plum and blackberry fruit. Flashes of cedar and sandalwood hang through the fine-grained finish. Rustic and lovely. Drink now through 2017. 25,000 cases made. –JM

Made of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet colored 2010 Chasse-Spleen gives up notes of stewed plums, baked blackcurrants and blackberry compote with hints of wild sage, leather and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the fruit is drying just slightly on the palate, and it has a sturdy frame of chewy tannins, finishing herbal.

Dunkles Granat, recht satt in der Mitte, rubiner Rand. Direktes, ansprechendes Rotkirschenbouquet, mittlerer Druck. Im Gaumen sehr saftig, im homogenen Fluss scheinen sich die sonst präsenteren Tannine richtig gehend zu verstecken. Irgendwie nett, aber mit dem Blick aufs Etikett erwartet man hier eigentlich schon wesentlich mehr. (16/20). 12: Leuchtendes Granat-Rubin. Das Bouquet zeigt florale Konturen, die Frucht wirkt defensiv und leicht erdig, mittlerer Druck. Und so geht es im eher leicht konzipierten Gaumen weiter, erstaunlich fein und zugänglich, wirkt irgendwie gezähmt und das geht zu Lasten seiner Kraft und des späteren Potentials. Wo sind die grossen Chasse-Spleen-Zeiten geblieben?<br/><br/>warten (2018 - 2033)
